PASO ROBLES, 2021

Dawning the regalia of Southern and Central California Coastal First Peoples made by celebrated regalia maker Leah Mata-Fragua, this image was captured on a cliffside of the place now known as Paso Robles. During our 3 month stay in Los Angeles, we went out of our way to find tiny pockets within the overgrown city that were still undeveloped, so we could place our bare feet on the ground and pray. I appreciate the multitude of textures and “stripes” in this image and the warmth of the black and white.
